Rocky Shore Gold Ltd. has started a 1,321-kilometre airborne time-domain electromagnetic (TDEM) survey across its Rocky Pond VMS Project in central Newfoundland. The company said the work is intended to help identify targets linked to buried volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralisation, while drilling at Rocky Pond is planned for Q1 2027.
#Survey covers the full Rocky Pond project
Rocky Shore said the survey is the first airborne geophysical programme of this scale conducted over Rocky Pond. President and CEO Ken Lapierre said electromagnetic methods can identify buried VMS mineralisation at considerable depths.
The project is located within the Buchans-Roberts Arm VMS Belt, an area that includes the former high-grade Buchans mine. Rocky Shore described Rocky Pond as covering a 40-kilometre-long trend of the Roberts Arm VMS Belt northeast of the former producing operation.
#Handcamp Zone remains a focus
The Handcamp Zone contains gold-rich VMS mineralisation comprising gold, silver, zinc, lead and copper. Rocky Shore said the zone extends for 1,200 metres at shallow depths above 100 metres vertical and remains open along strike and at depth.
The company reported historical drill intervals from the zone, including 1.96 g/t AuEq over 25.05 m from 13.05 m in hole H22-04, with an included interval of 3.50 g/t AuEq over 11.60 m. Other reported results included 2.20 g/t AuEq over 21.95 m from 10.20 m in H22-03 and 2.89 g/t AuEq over 11.85 m from 12.10 m in H22-01.
Additional reported intervals were 2.61 g/t AuEq over 12.25 m from 68.45 m in H22-10, 1.17 g/t AuEq over 26.25 m from 19.25 m in H22-02, and 2.38 g/t AuEq over 8.55 m from 27.60 m in H22-14.
Rocky Shore said the reported lengths are down-the-hole drill thicknesses, and that true thickness has not been established. The company also stated that it has not verified the accuracy of the values in its historical drill-results table. The AuEq grades are presented for illustrative purposes to express the combined value of gold, silver, zinc, lead and copper as a single metal grade.
#Loon Pond samples provide another exploration target
Rocky Shore also highlighted the Loon Pond showing, located 15 kilometres northeast of and on trend with the Handcamp Zone. Two rock samples reported by the company contained 8.35% Zn, 2.5% Pb, 0.75% Cu, 131.6 g/t Ag and 17.2 g/t Au, and 9.15% Zn, 0.13% Pb, 0.13% Cu, 85.2 g/t Ag and 0.9 g/t Au.
The company cautioned that surface samples do not accurately represent the true grade of the surrounding potential VMS system and should not be relied upon for that purpose.
#Drilling plans and company projects
Rocky Shore said it is preparing Rocky Pond for an early winter drill programme in 2027, described in the company’s announcement as planned for Q1 2027. Lapierre also said the company would continue drilling at its Gold Anchor Project.
Rocky Shore is a Canadian junior explorer focused on Gold Anchor and Rocky Pond in central Newfoundland. Gold Anchor is described as a more than 1,200-square-kilometre project, while Rocky Pond contains the Handcamp VMS Zone and several copper-rich VMS showings.
The company said it received $150,000 in financial support for 2025 and that its 2026 Junior Exploration Assistance application had been approved through the Mineral Incentive Program administered by the Mineral Development Division of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
#Exploration risks and forward-looking statements
Rocky Shore said its plans and other forward-looking information are subject to risks and uncertainties. These include the speculative nature of mineral exploration, future commodity prices, regulatory changes, environmental risks, permitting timelines, capital expenditures, technical difficulties, employee relations, future capital needs, uncertainty around additional financing, global economic and financial market conditions, and changes to project parameters as plans are evaluated.
The company stated that actual results, activity levels, performance or achievements may differ materially from its forward-looking information and advised readers not to place undue reliance on those statements.
