PJX Resources Inc. has started the first drilling campaign at the Gar gold target on its Zinger Property in southeastern British Columbia’s Sullivan Mining District. The programme is designed to investigate a 1,600-metre-long gold-in-soil anomaly linked to the Gar intrusion and a prospective Reduced Intrusion Related Gold System (RIRGS) setting.

#Drilling begins at the Gar target

The Gar area had not previously been tested by drilling. PJX began the work after the renewal of the Zinger Property’s five-year drilling permit earlier this month and the construction of three helicopter-supported drill pads.

Initial holes will concentrate on an area where elevated gold readings in soil overlap with gold mineralisation identified in surface samples. Much of the target is covered by overburden, although exposed bedrock contains quartz veins with RIRGS-style characteristics.

#Surface sampling and geological setting

PJX reported gold values of up to 28.84 g/t gold from grab samples collected from sheeted quartz veins in outcrops and boulders. The company also identified visible gold as individual grains and alongside pyrite in sheeted and structurally controlled quartz veins.

According to PJX, the geology and mineralisation at Gar have similarities to RIRGS deposits such as Snowline Gold’s Valley discovery in the Yukon and Kinross Gold’s Fort Knox deposit in Alaska. Airborne magnetic data has also indicated the potential for additional RIRGS targets in the surrounding area.

Bedrock sampling across the Zinger Property has identified gold mineralisation over an area measuring at least 9 km long and 2 km wide. PJX describes Gar as one of several exploration targets on the property.

#Winter conditions affect Dewdney Trail work

At the Dewdney Trail Property, PJX has completed approximately 2,700 metres of a planned 4,000-metre drill programme at the Estella Basin target. The work is focused on locating the source of Sullivan-style Sedex boulders found at the base of a mountain slope.

The company said results so far have narrowed the potential source area, but deteriorating seasonal weather conditions have led it to postpone further drilling at Estella Basin until next year. The drill has been moved to Gar, and additional drilling at Estella Basin is planned. Estella Basin is one of three priority Sedex targets at Dewdney Trail, alongside Lewis Ridge and Grundy Creek.

#Scope of the initial Gar programme

PJX President and CEO John Keating said the first Gar campaign will examine only part of the target because of its size and the approaching winter season. The company said results from the programme will be used to guide future exploration at Gar and elsewhere on the Zinger Property.
