CoTec Holdings Corp. has noted that HyProMag Germany was selected as a Strategic Project under the European Union’s Critical Raw Materials Act. The designation was announced by HyProMag USA on October 9, 2026, and HyProMag Germany was included among 46 projects identified by the European Commission.

#European project designation

HyProMag Germany operates a rare earth magnet recycling and manufacturing facility in Pforzheim, Germany. The site uses patented Hydrogen Processing of Magnet Scrap technology, known as HPMS.

The European Commission said the selected projects are intended to support critical raw materials supply chains across Europe. Its stated objectives include strengthening value chains, expanding processing and recycling capacity, improving competitiveness and increasing supply chain resilience.

#Connection with HyProMag USA

CoTec said the German operation uses the same HPMS technology that HyProMag USA is deploying in the United States. HyProMag USA is a joint venture owned 50:50 by CoTec Holdings Corp. and HyProMag Limited.

Julian Treger, chief executive officer of CoTec, said the European recycling capacity is complementary to HyProMag USA’s objective of establishing a domestic source of recycled rare earth magnetic materials in the United States.

#Ownership structure

HyProMag Limited is 100% owned by Maginito Limited. Maginito is owned on a 79.4%/20.6% basis by Mkango Magnetic Materials Limited and CoTec Holdings Corp.

Maginito holds a 90% direct and indirect interest in HyProMag Germany, assuming conversion of Maginito’s convertible loan.

#CoTec’s stated activities

CoTec Holdings Corp., which is listed under TSXV:CTH and OTCQX:CTHCF, says it focuses on rare earth magnets and strategic materials. The company identifies activities including the HyProMag USA magnet recycling joint venture in Texas, iron tailings reprocessing and reclamation in Québec, and copper and iron solutions.

#Forward-looking information and risks

CoTec said statements concerning the expected benefits of the Strategic Project designation, the development of rare earth magnet recycling capacity in Europe and HyProMag USA’s U.S. supply-chain objective are forward-looking statements. The company said actual results could differ materially from those anticipated because of known and unknown risks and uncertainties.

The risks identified by CoTec include resource and reserve risks; environmental risks and costs; permitting and regulatory risks; labour costs and shortages; uncertain supply and price fluctuations in materials; increases in energy costs; labour disputes and work stoppages; equipment leasing and availability; heavy equipment demand and availability; contractor and subcontractor performance; worksite safety issues; project delays and cost overruns; extreme weather events; and social, transport or geopolitical disruptions.

CoTec said readers should not place undue reliance on its forward-looking statements and that it assumes no obligation to update them except as required by law.
