American Critical Minerals Corp. has completed drilling and coring at the Duma Point AP-S-02 well within its Green River Project in Utah. The company reported sylvite mineralization in the Cycle 5 potash bed and collected brine samples from formations considered prospective for lithium and bromine.

#Duma Point well reaches planned depth

The well is located 20 miles west of Moab, Utah, and approximately 2,000 ft from a historic oil and gas well. It reached a total depth of 2,818 metres (9,245 feet) on September 13, 2026.

American Critical Minerals said the drilling was intended to assess historical potash information and examine potash horizons and brine-bearing units in the Paradox and Leadville formations. The company also obtained downhole wireline geophysical logs to assist with interpretation of the subsurface intervals.

#Sylvite identified in Cycle 5 potash bed

Initial handling and visual inspection of the recovered core identified sylvite within the Cycle 5 potash bed. The company said the wireline results indicated that the targeted potash intervals occurred at depths and apparent thicknesses consistent with those recorded in the historical Quintana Fed 1-1 well, located approximately 0.6 kilometres (~ 2,000 feet) east-northeast of Duma Point.

Historical records from the Quintana Fed 1-1 well reported 5.9 m grading 24.3% KCl from the Cycle 5 bed. American Critical Minerals said the historical information has not yet been verified by the company or a qualified person. The release also cautions that historical well data may not represent the underlying mineralization.

The recovered Cycle 5 core is being logged and photographed before being sent to the Saskatchewan Research Council in Saskatoon, Sask., for detailed geochemical analysis. Results had not been released.

#Brine samples collected from two formations

The well intersected the Paradox and upper Leadville formations, including clastic and limestone units that the company is investigating as possible sources of lithium- and bromine-bearing brine.

Two drill stem packer tests were completed in the Leadville Formation limestone and lower clastic units of the Paradox Formation. Brine was sampled from both units and is to be submitted to ACZ Laboratories, Inc. in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The company said further updates would be provided when laboratory results become available; the release did not report grades or establish the commercial significance of the samples.

#Well abandonment and next steps

The well has been cemented and abandoned in accordance with the requirements and stipulations of the State permit. The drilling rig is expected to be demobilized by approximately September 25, 2026.

American Critical Minerals has also disclosed conceptual targets for further exploration at the Green River Project, including 500 million to 950 million tonnes of sylvinite grading from 12% to 18% potassium oxide based on elog. Its lithium and bromine target is 2.1 billion cubic meters of brine volume grading 71.6 to 216.3 ppm Li and 3,656 to 4,741 ppm Br.

The company states that these targets are conceptual, that exploration has not been sufficient to define a mineral resource, and that it remains uncertain whether further exploration will lead to a mineral resource under NI 43-101. They are not mineral resources or mineral reserves.

#Project setting

The Green River Project is located in Utah’s Paradox Basin. American Critical Minerals holds interests covering the project area and is authorized to drill a total of 7 drill holes across the Green River Project.

The company said nearby historic oil and gas wells provide geological information for the area. It also noted that results or discoveries on nearby properties may not indicate the presence of mineralization on its own claims.

#Key Takeaways

  • American Critical Minerals completed drilling and coring at the Duma Point AP-S-02 well in Utah.
