BTU Metals Corp. (TSX-V:BTU) has started drilling at its 100% owned Hubcap property in Wawa, Ontario. The initial campaign is planned to cover approximately 1,200 meters across 5-7 holes and will target priority areas identified through geophysical work and surface results.
BTU said Hubcap contains multiple surface gold occurrences and shear zones. These structures show strong carbonate sericite alteration and host quartz carbonate zones, according to the company.
The area has seen only sporadic exploration since early in the 1900's. BTU said the property has since been consolidated under its ownership.
Paul Wood, BTU Metals' CEO and director, said the company had begun drilling gold targets at Hubcap and Centennial and intends to provide updates on the programmes when available.
The technical information in the announcement was reviewed and approved by Bruce Durham, P. Geo., BTU's vice-president of exploration and a qualified person under National Instrument 43-101.
BTU Metals describes itself as a junior mining exploration company. Its assets include the Dixie Halo Project in Red Lake, Ontario, which is optioned to Kinross, as well as gold and critical minerals properties in the Wawa gold district. The company also holds the Dixie East land package, located east of the Great Bear Project and the Dixie Halo project.
BTU said it has no debt and minimal property obligations, while also stating that trading in its securities should be considered highly speculative. The company continues to seek additional exploration projects for its portfolio.
The announcement included forward-looking information concerning BTU's plans and future actions. The company cautioned that actual results could differ materially because of factors including dilution, future financing needs, industry competition, regulation, reliance on key personnel, access to capital and volatile securities markets. It also said it undertakes no obligation to revise or update forward-looking information except as required by law.
