Marimaca Copper Corp. has appointed Louis Irvine as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective November 1 st, 2026. The company said the appointment adds senior mining finance and copper project development experience as it advances work on the Marimaca Oxide Deposit Project in northern Chile.
#Louis Irvine’s mining industry background
Irvine is a chartered accountant with over 30 years' experience in the mining industry. His most recent position was chief financial officer of Ma'aden, the Saudi Arabian Mining Company, a role he held from 2022 until his retirement in mid-2025.
His earlier executive finance positions included chief financial officer at Endeavour Mining, Executive Head of Strategy and Business Development at Anglo American, and CFO Copper at Xstrata.
#Experience in copper project financing
Marimaca said Irvine has worked on the development and financing of copper projects in South America, including the Las Bambas, Quellaveco and Antapaccay operations in Peru. The company also said his experience covers financing mining projects from development and construction through to operations across different commodities and jurisdictions.
Independent Chair Giancarlo Bruno Lagomarsino said Irvine’s finance leadership, experience as a listed-company CFO and knowledge of Latin America would support Marimaca’s work on the Marimaca Oxide Deposit.
#Marimaca Oxide Deposit Project
The Marimaca Oxide Deposit Project, known as the MOD, is Marimaca Copper’s flagship asset in Chile’s Antofagasta region. The company said it is preparing the project financing package for the MOD and advancing towards a full construction decision.
Marimaca also controls exploration properties at Pampa Medina and Madrugador in the Sierra de Medina region, located 30 kilometers from the MOD. Recent drilling there has identified oxide extensions and high-grade sulphide mineralization at depth.
#Listings and forward-looking risks
Marimaca Copper is listed on the TSX under the symbol MARI and on the ASX under the symbol MC2.
The company cautioned that statements concerning development activities at the MOD are forward-looking. It said those activities may not progress as anticipated, or at all, and that actual results and future events could differ materially from expectations.
Risks identified by Marimaca include project delays, cost overruns, unanticipated excessive operating costs and expenses, fluctuating metal prices, uncertainty in interpreting drilling results and other geological data, and risks inherent in mining, exploration and mineral-property development. The company also cited uncertainties around the need for financing, the availability and cost of future financing, and regulatory procedures and the timing of permitting submissions and reviews. Marimaca said readers should not place undue reliance on forward-looking statements.
