The company identified the patent as its 3 rd US patent in Family #27, concerning compositions and methods for treating diabetes. It said the family has 5 overall granted patents, including 2 granted in Australia.

US Patent 12,758,566 was granted on October 13, 2026. It covers DehydraTECH-processed cannabidiol, or CBD, and was described by Lexaria as its 1 st patent in Family #26, also concerning compositions and methods for treating diabetes.

#Lexaria’s patent portfolio and platform

Lexaria said it has 70 patents granted and additional patents pending worldwide. The company operates a licensed in-house research laboratory and said its research and development programmes examine improvements in drug absorption that support intellectual-property creation and registration, as well as commercial relationships and expected revenue growth from out-licensing its technology.

DehydraTECH is Lexaria’s patented formulation and processing platform for oral drug delivery. The company says the technology is designed to improve how a range of drugs enter the bloodstream. Lexaria also says it has repeatedly shown the ability to increase bio-absorption, reduce side-effects and deliver some drugs more effectively across the blood-brain barrier.

Richard Christopher, Lexaria’s chief executive, said the company views its intellectual property as its most valuable asset. He said Lexaria had developed a patent-protected portfolio across major pharmaceutical markets and intended to continue expanding it.

#Risks and regulatory limitations

Lexaria said its forward-looking statements are estimates based on current information and involve risks and uncertainties. The company said there can be no assurance that it will achieve the plans, intentions or expectations described in those statements.

The risks identified include government regulation and regulatory approvals, the patent application and approval process, scientific discovery, competition, litigation, adverse publicity, potential adverse effects from testing or using products involving DehydraTECH, maintaining existing collaborations and realising their benefits, and delays or cancellations affecting planned research and development.

Lexaria also stated that there is no assurance that its postulated uses, benefits or advantages for patented and patent-pending technology will be realised.
