Horizon Aircraft reported fiscal 2027 first-quarter results and provided an update on development, testing and certification plans for its full-scale Cavorite X7 demonstrator.
Horizon Aircraft reported its financial and operational results for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, which ended August 31, 2026, while outlining further development work on its full-scale Cavorite X7 hybrid-electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing aircraft demonstrator.
The Canadian aerospace company said it held more than $70 million in cash as of August 31, 2026. Management expects that balance to support the current operating plan for at least the next 24 months. The company also identified a risk that additional capital may be needed to carry out its business plans and said such funding may not be available on acceptable terms or at all.
Horizon Aircraft said its capital allocation has shifted toward research and development, with R&D spending significantly increased in relation to general and administrative spending. The company linked that change to continued work on the Cavorite X7 programme.
Horizon Aircraft said the full-scale demonstrator is expected to be completed by the first quarter of calendar 2027. The company expects initial testing to begin in early calendar 2027, followed by ground and taxi testing and then flight testing.
The company has held several meetings with Transport Canada concerning the design and construction of the demonstrator. Horizon Aircraft said this work is intended to support progress toward certification, although successful testing and certification remain subject to risks identified in its forward-looking statements.
#Development partners and potential customer interest
Development of the demonstrator continues with support from BETA Technologies, Marshall Aerospace, RAMPF Composite Solutions and North Aircraft Industries.
Horizon Aircraft also said it has signed letters of intent representing more than US$1 billion in potential aircraft sales. The letters cover up to 200 aircraft purchases and 5 aircraft leases. These arrangements represent potential transactions rather than completed aircraft sales.
Horizon Aircraft is developing hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft designed to conduct most of a mission in traditional wing-borne flight. The company said its designs prioritise safety and performance.
Upon successful completion of testing and certification of its full-scale aircraft, Horizon Aircraft intends to scale unit production to meet expected demand from regional aircraft operators, emergency service providers, and military customers. The company cautioned that its forward-looking statements depend on current expectations and assumptions, and that actual results may differ from those expectations, estimates and projections.
Other risks identified by the company include changes in the markets in which it competes, technology developments, regulatory changes, limited useful financial information for estimating future capital expenditures and revenue, and its ability to develop, certify and manufacture an aircraft that meets performance expectations.
Horizon Aircraft said it would hold a webcast and conference call on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time to discuss the results and provide a business update. The company said an archive would be made available in the Investors section of its website following the call.
