Freedom Holding Corp. (NASDAQ:FRHC) has been included in Newsweek’s America’s Greenest Companies 2026 ranking, which evaluates U.S. organisations on environmental performance and transparency. The assessment considered more than 25 indicators, including greenhouse gas emissions, water use, waste and sustainability disclosures.

#Environmental reporting and policy

Freedom Holding published its latest Sustainability Report in September 2026. The report covers progress during the past financial year and the environmental and social initiatives supported by the company. It was prepared using international reporting standards and the principles of the United Nations Global Compact.

Selected sustainability disclosures received independent external assurance from Deloitte for the third consecutive year. Freedom Holding also introduced its Environmental Policy in July 2025. The policy addresses energy consumption, resource efficiency, waste, climate-related risks and environmental awareness, while providing support for projects with wider environmental effects.

#Projects in Kazakhstan and Central Asia

Through the Freedom Shapagat corporate fund, the company has supported the planting of black saxaul and other salt-tolerant vegetation on areas affected by the retreat of the Aral Sea. The work is intended to aid ecosystem restoration and address environmental effects linked to the exposed seabed.

Freedom Holding is also working with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources on efforts to restore the Turan tiger population. The initiative followed a memorandum on environmental cooperation connected with COP29 and is part of work supporting biodiversity and terrestrial ecosystems.

Its Eco-Aul initiative is based in Zhinishkekum, a village in Kazakhstan’s Kyzylorda region. The project focuses on environmental resilience and access to clean water, energy and medical services. A pilot at a rural school is intended to demonstrate solutions that could potentially be used in other communities.

#Measuring environmental exposure

Freedom Holding has completed greenhouse-gas inventories, developed financed-emissions calculations and introduced climate-risk assessments. The company says these measures are being used to incorporate environmental considerations into business decisions, including the assessment of environmental exposure across financial portfolios.

During the FY2026 reporting period, Freedom Holding supported more than 80 projects contributing to 11 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The projects covered areas including environmental protection, education, health and well-being, sustainable cities and communities, sports, culture and social development.

#Company background

Freedom Holding describes itself as an international financial services and technology company providing financial services in 24 countries. Its Kazakhstan operations include Freedom Bank, Freedom Broker, Freedom Life, Freedom insurance, Arbuz.kz, Freedom Ticketon and Aviata.

The company’s shares trade on NASDAQ, the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) and the Astana International Exchange (AIX) under the ticker FRHC. Chief Executive Officer Timur Turlov said the recognition reflected the Group’s work on environmental responsibility, climate-related risk assessment and ecosystem-focused projects.
