CanCambria Energy Corp. has reported progress on preparations for the CC-Ba-E-2 well in Hungary’s Kiskunhalas tight-gas field and submitted a Technical Operating Plan covering exploration across its Kiskunhalas Concession Area. The company says the well is permitted and approved, with drilling anticipated in H2 2026.
#Well construction and procurement
Olvisz98, a Hungarian approved service company and strategic partner, has installed and cemented a 20-inch conductor pipe at a setting depth of 72 m. CanCambria describes the work as the start of construction for the CC-Ba-E-2 well.
The company has also placed an order with Tenaris Silcotub in Romania for tubulars and drill casing. Delivery is anticipated on or before June 30, 2026. CanCambria says it has paid a US$100,000 deposit, described as approximately 7% of the total invoice, while fabrication is anticipated to begin in early 2026.
Pipeline preparation is also under way. CanCambria expects to begin recommissioning the existing 4-inch natural gas pipeline connection to the gas storage facility at Zsana in early Q1 2026. The facility is operated by MVM Gas Storage Ltd. The work is intended to support take-away capacity for the first well.
#Technical Operating Plan for Kiskunhalas
The submitted Technical Operating Plan covers the 945.9 km² (233,737 acres) Kiskunhalas Concession Area and sets out the company’s 2026-2029 exploration programme.
Work scheduled for 2026 includes geological and geophysical studies using historical well and production information. The studies are intended to refine leads and prospects identified through the 2011-vintage 400 km² Kiha 3D seismic survey and over 3,000-line km of 2D seismic data collected at various times.
For 2027, the plan includes 3D seismic acquisition and processing across the Soltvadkert Trough, covering over 213 km2. CanCambria describes the area as a largely underexplored Miocene basin considered prospective for tight gas and containing several small legacy oil fields.
Based on the results of that 3D seismic campaign, the company says a minimum of two deep well locations will be selected for potential drilling in 2029. The drilling remains potential and is dependent on the seismic results.
#Additional assessment work
CanCambria has incorporated the Kiskunhalas extension area into the existing tight-gas fairway in the Kiskunhalas Trough. The company says this adds 2,000 acres and 12 well locations to its field development plan.
Two further prospective resource assessments are being planned. One would examine the conventional oil-prone section at a shallow depth above 2,000 m and includes up to 15 prospects.
The second assessment will be contingent on the results of the planned 3D seismic targeting the deep tight-gas fairway in the analog basin to the north, identified as the Soltvadkert Trough.
#Funding discussions and forward-looking information
CanCambria says it is seeking a strategic partner to explore and underwrite funding for a portion of the Kiskunhalas Concession Area work programme. The opportunities in the region are being marketed through a process involving Raiffeisen Bank International AG that was previously announced on October 16, 2025. The company has not stated that a partner or funding arrangement has been secured.
The company’s planned drilling, exploration, infrastructure and assessment activities include anticipated, expected, planned or potential actions. CanCambria states that its forward-looking information is subject to known or unknown risks, uncertainties, assumptions and other unpredictable factors, many of which are outside its control. It also says such information should not be treated as a guarantee of future performance or results.
