Graphite One engages integration provider for planned Ohio facility, subject to financing

Graphite One Inc. (TSXV: GPH) (OTCQX: GPHOF) announced it engaged a leading global engineering and production line integration provider to support the design and integration of manufacturing equipment for its planned Ohio advanced graphite materials facility. The facility remains subject to project financing.

• The provider’s Production Line Integration services cover equipment interface design, process integration, production flow optimization, and operational readiness planning. The company expects the Ohio facility to produce Active Anode Materials (AAM), described as the largest component by weight in virtually every lithium-ion battery. Graphite One said its strategy includes mining at Graphite Creek in Alaska, transport via the Port of Nome, and processing into advanced graphite and anode materials in Ohio. A potential co-located recycling facility is also subject to project financing.

Graphite One said the United States is currently 100% import-dependent for natural graphite and that graphite accounts for approximately 95% of the anode in today’s lithium-ion batteries. The company cautioned there is no certainty it will receive project financing, have the required equipment available on a timely basis, or receive all permits and regulatory approvals to progress construction of the Ohio facility. It also said it is continuing development of Graphite Creek, engineering, Ohio site development, and discussions with potential customers and strategic partners.
