Temas Resources Corp. and SAGA Metals Corp. have announced significant progress in the validation of their proprietary Regenerative Chloride Leach (RCL) technology. The recent Stage 1 metallurgical validation program demonstrated impressive recovery rates for titanium, vanadium, and iron from SAGA's mineral deposits, setting the stage for further optimization and potential commercial applications.
The Stage 1 program involved an independent assessment evaluating the RCL platform's efficacy on three representative mineral feed types supplied by SAGA, including Run-of-Mine (ROM) Massive Oxide, vanadiferous titanomagnetite concentrate, and ilmenite concentrate. Results showed titanium recoveries reaching up to 90.8%, iron recoveries of 91.5%, and vanadium recoveries of 97.4%, exceeding initial project objectives.
Following the positive results from Stage 1, the joint teams plan to move into the Detailed Bench Optimization Program (Stage 2). This next phase will further refine process conditions to maximize recovery efficiency, reduce reagent consumption, and generate necessary engineering data for pilot-scale development. The Stage 2 program aims to optimize factors such as leach chemistry and solid-liquid separation.
The success of the RCL technology during the validation program supports Temas’ strategy to commercialize the platform beyond its owned mineral projects. As demand for secure and sustainable sources of titanium and vanadium increases, the technology's potential for licensing and partnership agreements is expected to grow considerably.
