Rio Grande Resources Ltd. has announced the initiation of a second phase of field sampling and mapping at its Winston Gold-Silver Project, located in the Black Range Mountains of Sierra County, New Mexico. This fieldwork is intended to support the planning of an upcoming Phase 1 drill program, following favorable surface sampling results that highlighted high-grade mineralization.
The new field program is set to commence in the second week of May 2026 and will encompass approximately seven days of detailed structural mapping and surface sampling, conducted by Dahrouge Geological Consulting USA Ltd. This phase of exploration builds upon recent results from the Poverty Creek area, which reported as high as 41.2 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold and 1,435 g/t of silver.
The primary aim of the ongoing fieldwork is to refine and prioritize potential drill targets with high-confidence based on previous high-grade results and an airborne magnetic survey. Key areas of focus include the Poverty Creek site, as well as the patented Ivanhoe and Emporia claims, and other targets identified through the recent geophysical survey.
The field program will employ channel sampling as the main method to evaluate mineral continuity. Where channel sampling is impractical, rock chip samples will be collected. This integrated approach helps build a comprehensive view of the mineral content and structural controls affecting mineralization across the property. Both techniques also reinforce the company’s exploration strategy established in a previous field program.
Data gathered during this phase will complement earlier surface sampling results and the airborne geophysical survey outcomes. The analysis will enhance understanding of structural controls on mineralization, allowing the team to finalize high-confidence drill targets in preparation for the Phase 1 drill program.
Rio Grande Resources has initiated a second phase of field sampling and mapping at the Winston Gold-Silver Project to prepare for its Phase 1 drill programme. This comes after promising surface sampling results indicating high-grade gold and silver, suggesting strong potential for mineral discovery.
The field programme aims to refine and prioritise high-confidence drill targets based on recent high-grade sampling results and geophysical data. This systematic approach enhances the potential for successful mineral exploration, creating value for investors.
The high-grade surface sampling results, which included up to 41.2 g/t gold and 1,435 g/t silver, underscore the promising nature of the Winston Project. Such encouraging data is likely to boost investor confidence as the company progresses towards drilling.
The primary method for assessing mineralisation continuity will be channel sampling, complemented by rock chip samples in areas where channel sampling is impractical. This dual approach is designed to ensure comprehensive evaluation of the mineral content, reinforcing investor perspectives on the project's viability.
Integrating geophysical data with sampling results helps to identify structural controls on mineralisation, enabling the company to focus on the most promising drill targets. This data-driven approach may lead to more successful exploration outcomes, enhancing the company's attractiveness to investors.
The targeted areas, including Poverty Creek and the Ivanhoe and Emporia claims, were selected based on their historical high-grade production and recent promising geophysical interpretations. This strategic targeting could significantly increase the likelihood of finding economically viable mineral deposits.
Dahrouge Geological Consulting USA Ltd. is leading the field programme. Their expertise in mineral exploration adds credibility to the project, providing reassurance to investors about the professional handling and potential success of the exploration efforts.
Rio Grande's structured exploration approach aims to unlock high-grade mineral potential at the Winston Project. As the company makes progress towards drilling, aligning its activities with rigorous data analysis, it positions itself to create substantial shareholder value.
