Gemdale Gold Inc. has announced the initial findings from its 2026 drill program at the Pontio Gold Project located in central Finland. The results reveal promising intersections of gold mineralization across several drill holes, reinforcing the project's potential for a significant gold deposit.
The first phase of the drill program included 28 diamond drill holes totaling 5,009 meters, primarily aimed at infill drilling to support an initial resource estimate slated for early 2027. Notably, results from the first 14 holes in the northern section of the M2 Trend highlighted substantial gold intercepts. Key findings include:
Hole PONT082: 92.85 meters at 0.70 g/t Au from 44.52 meters and 45.72 meters at 0.44 g/t Au from 178.72 meters.
Hole PONT084: 66.86 meters at 0.59 g/t Au from 47.80 meters and 24.92 meters at 0.63 g/t Au from 135.69 meters.
Hole PONT079: 44.74 meters at 0.65 g/t Au from 55.35 meters.
Hole PONT080B: 52.03 meters at 0.57 g/t Au from 32.22 meters.
These results indicate that gold mineralization within the N2 portion of the M2 Trend now exceeds an estimated true width of 100 meters in certain sections.
The Pontio Gold Project is situated in a historically significant mining district in Finland, known for its favorable infrastructure. Essential facilities such as paved roads, power, and nearby rail lines facilitate exploration activities. The geological setting comprises subcropping gold mineralization hosted primarily in diorite and diorite porphyry dykes.
Despite its productive history of base metals mining, gold exploration in the region has just begun, with the Pontio project being identified only in 2011 during the commissioning of the nearby Laiva gold mine.
The upcoming drilling phase will target the central-southern sectors of the project, namely the S1 sector, where visible gold has been tentatively identified in drillhole PONT093. This marks only the second instance of visible gold in the project's history, pending further assays to confirm findings.
Gemdale Gold plans to continue its exploration efforts with a view to acquiring a more detailed understanding of the mineralization trends and pursuing a maiden resource estimate by early 2027.

The identification of visible gold in hole PONT093, if confirmed, could indicate the presence of a sub-zone with higher grade gold, marking only the second occurrence of visible gold in the project’s drilling history, but assay results are pending.
